Methanol

Methanol/Methyl Alcohol is produced naturally in the environment by the anaerobic metabolism of many varieties of bacteria.  It is a toxic alcohol that is used industrially as a solvent, pesticide, and alternative fuel source.

  • Methanol(CH3OH) is the simplest alcohol. It is a building block for hundreds of everyday products, including plastics, paints, car parts and construction materials.

  • It occurs naturally in humans, animals, and plants. Methanol is also a clean energy resource used to fuel cars, trucks, buses, ships, fuel cells, boilers and cook stoves.
